What if ghosts or spirits or whatever are basically nothing more then an energy that is being replayed? I.E. there is an energy that causes us to exist. Well, what if that energy is somehow captured in a sense like being recorded and continues on even after we are gone? If the person was a mean, vengeful or harmful kinda person, then their "spirit" energy would also be a negative one. The opposite would prove to be true also. The reason why some spirits bother us and others don't would (could) be tied into their personality type. Just a thought

About 4 months ago my 2 1/2 year old was going to bed one night. She looks past me and starts talking to whatever. She wasn't babbling it was like she was having a conversation with someone. She was talking about her sister and going home. Scared the hell outta me. Since then I have not seen her do it again. I told my hubby and though he thought it was strange, he couldn't understand why I was freaked out. That was weird. Not to mention that since we moved into our house it seems like there is this really freaky bad karma.
Believe things are there we don't understand. I always thought it would be hysterical if a KH turned out to be haunted.

JW's protected from Tsunami by going to the meeting... from bethel
by Max Divergent incame across this from one of the "faithfull".... now just watch out now you inactive ones there's a tsunami looking for you, so just be sure you "keep you eyes on the prize ocean".
just spoke to [some bethalite at a bethhell near you] last night.. she was telling us of the news regarding our brothers and sisters in the tsunami region.
in one area all the brothers were at the meeting when it struck, except for one sister who was home sick and a 6 member family of inactive ones who were caught up in it because they hadn't gone to the meeting.

This must be especially sickening to the family of "brothers and sisters" who did get killed in this and numerous other disasters.
That was the first thing I thought. If it were my kids that got swept away and the gb was using them as "an example" I swear I would find a very good lawyer to see if I could catch them for anything. What got me about this was that when I was told about it by a family member, they said it, but then they quickly added, "well, I'm not saying that Jehovah saved them because they were at the meetings." Gag. All I could think was, then why even bring it up? Then I thought, if this is true, how many people go to the kingdom hall for appearances sake? So, they were saved and Jehovah let 150,000 people die who in all probability were fairly decent people????? I know it was emphasized to me that (at the time this came out) the 2 witnesses who did die, were on holiday and were hanging at the beach. Most jw's I know DO NOT go and search out a kh when they are on a much needed holiday.... Although, next time my fam takes a trip, I should probably remind them that if they do not, the consequences could be lethal.

I do know that doctors will avoid using blood transfusions if they are able to. However, and a big HOWEVER, I think if you were to lay the choice of life and death on the table for most people, with the option of life and POSSIBLE complications as a reaction to the bt, or you know death, most would take life.
Regardles, if you are a nice jw, you should remember that the reason dubs do not accept bt is not because of the health consequences, remember, they STRESS this point, but for scriptural reasons, (faulty at that)
Possibly you could answer a question.... while you're here...
Why would they shun a person who accepts a bt to save their life yet 'reprove' a one time act of fornication or adultery? I remember how often they would stress the importance of not accepting a bt as showing that it is as deplorable as fornication. Or idolatry, I have never seen a witness df'ed for idolatry... never ever ever. Even though there is more then enough evidence that witnesses, for over 100 years, have set aside the teachings of the bible, knowing in their hearts that something was not right, and put on a pedastal the teachings of the gb.
Just a thought.....

GB are reading out posts?
by Gill inrecently i was reading and writing posts of why lot would offer his daughters to the men of sodom and someone else was asking or commenting on why uzziah was killed for trying to stop the ark of c. from falling.
well, lo and behold, the feb 1st watchtower addresses both of these questions and suggests that we should not be questioning these events as god knows what he's doing?.
are you listening (or reading) gb or gb representatives.

I am not sure if this myth or urban legen but...
Some years back a pioneer I knew had talked to someone who had been online in either an "unofficial" jw site or an apostate site. Apparently a person who, I believe, id'ed themself as being a bethelite, had gotten involved in a chat and directed that whatever questions they had shloud be directed to the elders or to the official site.
As I said not sure if it's true or not.

Missy,
I love Christian rock. My favorite is Stephen Curtis Chapman Twilight, I have only heard it a few times, but it is the most beautiful song ever. Jaci Velazquez has a beautiful voice.
I completely agree with you. I love rock, and adult contemp. I love music period. But christian rock just makes me feel happy. Those artists are incredibly talented.
When I was younger, Stryper was the big Christian rock band. I really like Sarah Kelly and Sarah Mason. Sarah Kelly has this one song, Hallelujah, that is just awesome.
I could go on and on. It's so cool to learn of others who really like Christian music. Shout to the Lord, I think I have heard it, I will look for it more particular.

Obesity vs. Smoking - which is worse?
by Why Georgia in.
when i was going to the kingdumb hall people were being actively disfellowshipped for smoking because it was bad for you and an insult to jehovah.. how come nobody disfellowshipped the 400 pound sister who brought her own chair or stood in the back because she couldn't fit in her chair?.
why didn't anyone disfellowship the bookstudy leader for looking pregnant when he obviously wasn't.. why is cigarette addiction bad but not food addiction.. just wondering?

To tell ya the truth, out of all the people I would consider "gluttons" most are of an average weight or maybe slightly overweight. I know many, many very overweight people. Yes, some it is medical. Sometimes genetic. Sometimes poor eating habits. Sometimes a combination. Unfortunately, as a culture, we tend to critisize the things we don't understand. I have a child with ds, and sometimes people really stare at her. Sometimes people say some of the most stupidest things and don't bat an eye. How many times does a person use the word retarded to describe something that they think is dumb? Ignorant or stupid is NOT the same as retarded. Just as gluttony is NOT the same as obesity. The reason why I personally think dfing someone for smoking is wrong is because it is just plain wrong to put yourself Above people as their judge when absolutely no one has the right to judge another's relationship between them and God. And as Gary touched on.... I know of so many jw's that wouldn't go to a dinner if there weren't booze. Their alcohol resistance is very high and these people are elders and elderettes and pioneers. Double standards every where. Jw's and nonjw's do it. What about some people's serious addiction to coffee? Caffeine is soooooo bad for your body. I know some people who drink 1 or2 pots of coffee a day! That causes serious health problems. It stays in your body, and bloats a person. So, why is That ok?
Well, I am definitely going to be more sensitive to those with weight problems. Not that I've ever been a bitch about it. But hey, I am not going to say I've never made the occasional stupid comment. I hate stupid comments about "retards" so, I am going to definitely put more effort into watching what Isay about people with weight problems.
Now I'll go have my morning cig and coffee. =) Maybe a piece of cake too

great tribulation or no great tribulation that is my question
by BlackSwan of Memphis inso, what's the deal?
are witnesses now expecting a tribulation to precede armageddon or are they expecting armageddon without a tribulation?.
because in the last couple of years some of the things i am hearing and reading, lead me to believe they are phasing out the concept of a tribulation.

wow you guys are thorough. Okay, so I feel a little less dumb. Flip flop is right.
How does general christianity view terms such as the great tribulation, elect ones and Armageddon compared to dubs?
I watched the movie Left Behind. Bad acting, interesting theory. Does christianity have a view on the end times?

Gary, I don't think I have access to that yearbook, right now, but I think I have a handle on what you mean.
So, yes on the trib, yes they're figuring out they don't know when, yes on Armageddon. Technically, the trib comes first, but they're telling witnesses armageddon could come at any time, we don't know when, but it is supposed to come after the (or at the end of) the trib. But Armageddon could come at any time.
Is it just me or is something screwy?
Thank you guys for your posts
I feel like I'm dumb or something, cos it's so simple and when I hear things like Armageddon could come tomorrow I just think did I miss something? Has there been a trib?

The impression I have gotten over this tsunami and the brochure that was released this past summer, is keep on the watch 'cause Armageddon could happen at any time. Okay. Well, what happened to the tribulation?
